Job Title:
School Nutrition Manager
- Responsible for supervising the operation of the school nutrition program at Ruckersville Elementary School, under the supervision of the Director of School Nutrition, in order to provide safe, appealing and nutritious meals for students and staff that meet local, state and federal guidelines.
- Supervise and train school nutrition workers to ensure that meals are served according to USD National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) federal requirements, and to ensure proper food handling and sanitation procedures are done at all times.
- Supervise daily meal preparation – forecast number of meals to be served daily, determine the amount of food to be prepared and served, and complete food production records daily according to monthly menus created by the Director of School Nutrition.
- Accurately forecast food ordering needs, place orders and accept deliveries.
- Responsible for inventory control – utilize FIFO and keep accurate inventory of all food, supplies and equipment.
- Operate/supervise the computerized cash register system, which includes daily balancing of deposits.
- Complete computerized monthly reports and documentation needed for NSLP and SBP state and federal requirements.
- Create work schedules for school nutrition workers including job duties, meal production times and cleaning duties.
- Train new school nutrition workers and substitute workers.
- Promote good public relations with staff/faculty/administrators/parents.
- Continuously work to improve the quality of items served and to increase participation in school meals programs.
- Attend all designated meetings and trainings.
- Work independently and demonstrate flexibility and initiative in performing a variety of assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of School Nutrition.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years institutional food service experience or closely related experience with management role is preferred.
- Serv Safe Food Production Manager Certification required/must be obtained upon hire.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time required.
- Frequent lifting of food containers and food stuffs weighing 10-50 pounds required.
- 7 hours per day, 183-day position.
- Pay based on food service experience.
