Job Title: Instructional Technology Coach (ITC)

Terms of Employment: 210 days

Pay Grade: Teacher Scale

Job Summary: The Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) provides training and assistance to ensure colleagues are utilizing educational technology to create authentic, student‑centered learning experiences. The focus is on skill development and content acquisition rather than the tool itself.

Essential Duties
  • Plan and conduct professional learning opportunities that advance teachers’ professional growth and purposeful integration of technology.
  • Model the seven International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Educators consistently in work with site‑based and division colleagues.
  • Continuously improve practice to leverage technology to enhance student outcomes.
  • Serve as a leader in the teaching and learning cycle to nurture student agency.
  • Encourage students to participate responsibly in the digital landscape.
  • Collaborate with learners and colleagues to curate resources and resolve problems.
  • Design student‑centered learning activities that honor learner variability.
  • Facilitate student use of technology to promote appropriate tool selection.
  • Use data to drive instructional decisions and technology integration.
  • Establish trusting and respectful coaching relationships that encourage educators to explore new instructional strategies.
  • Facilitate equitable use of digital learning tools and content meeting each learner’s needs.
  • Participate actively in professional learning networks to stay current with emerging technology and pedagogical innovations.
  • Collaborate with educators to develop authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency and deepen content mastery.
  • Build capacity of educators, leaders, and instructional teams to implement ISTE Standards through active learning and meaningful feedback.
  • Evaluate the impact of professional learning and continually improve to meet the school wide vision for high‑impact technology use.
  • Support educators in interpreting qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions and support individualized student learning.
  • Model digital citizenship and support educators and students in recognizing responsibilities and opportunities in a digital world.
Other Duties
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the Director of Recruitment and Retention or building administrators.
  • Act as an education specialist on site, collaborating with teachers and staff to extend district instructional technology initiatives.
Job Specifications
  • Serve on school leadership teams and attend scheduled meetings at each school as requested.
  • Plan and conduct timely, data‑driven professional learning opportunities for school staff.
  • Collaborate with building administrators to meet site‑specific instructional technology goals.
  • Attend scheduled ITC meetings and communicate effectively with school‑based and division‑level staff.
  • Support district initiatives, including software/hardware purchases, contributing to the division strategic plan.
  • Create and maintain a current schedule available to the Director of Recruitment and Retention and building administrators.
  • Distribute, maintain, train, and manage devices.
  • Allocate time as follows: 70% assisting, training, and modeling instructional technology; 14% planning with administrators; 10% communication and record keeping; 3% minor troubleshooting; 4% personal professional learning.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Holds a valid Virginia teaching license.
  • Completion of Google Level 1 Certification and Canvas experience is preferred.
  • Three years of successful classroom teaching is preferred.
  • Possesses an in‑depth knowledge of instructional technologies, instructional delivery, curriculum development, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and implement training for adult learners and lead educational projects.
  • Possesses an electronic portfolio demonstrating standards‑based instruction and technology‑inclusive achievement.
  • Demonstrates problem‑solving capabilities to support instruction with technology that raises student achievement.
  • Possesses a valid Virginia driver’s license.
