Overview
We are looking for a caring and dedicated Assistant Infant Teacher to support the daily care, learning, and development of infants in a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Lead Infant Teacher to provide individualized attention, assist with classroom activities, and ensure infants' needs are met. This role requires patience, attentiveness, and a passion for early childhood education.
The Assistant Infant Teacher will help maintain a structured routine, support infants' social and emotional development, and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers.
- Support Infant Care:
Assist in feeding, diapering, and maintaining nap schedules according to infants’ individual needs. - Engage in Developmental
Activities:
Help implement play-based learning activities that foster cognitive, social, and physical growth. - Maintain a Safe & Clean Environment:
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the classroom and follow health and safety protocols. - Provide Comfort & Emotional Support:
Offer nurturing interactions that promote bonding, security, and infant well-being. - Assist with Classroom Management:
Help organize learning materials, maintain routines, and support a structured, engaging environment. - Observe & Monitor Infant Growth:
Assist in tracking developmental milestones and communicating observations to the Lead Teacher. - Collaborate with Families:
Provide updates to parents and support open communication about their child’s progress. - Work Closely with the Lead Teacher:
Follow guidance and assist in implementing the infant curriculum and caregiving strategies.
- Education Required:
High school diploma - Education Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. - Certification: CPR and First Aid certification required; additional childcare-related certifications preferred.
- Experience:
Previous experience working with infants in a childcare, preschool, or early education setting.
- Strong understanding of infant growth and development.
- Ability to implement age-appropriate learning activities and caregiving routines.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in an infant care environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with parents and colleagues.
- Leadership experience in training or supervising childcare staff.
- Patience, warmth, and responsiveness to infants’ needs.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain classroom structure and routines.
- Passion for fostering early childhood development in a nurturing way.
- Additional
Certifications:
Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or specialized early childhood training. - Experience with Special Needs:
Familiarity with early intervention strategies or working with infants with developmental delays. - Bilingual Abilities:
Ability to communicate in multiple languages to better support diverse families. - Sensory & Play-Based Learning Expertise:
Knowledge of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or other child-centered learning philosophies. - Strong Parent Engagement
Skills:
Experience in organizing parent workshops or family support programs. - Crisis Intervention Training:
Understanding of infant safety, emergency preparedness, and calming techniques. - Creativity & Adaptability: A passion for designing engaging, hands-on learning experiences for infants.
