Dual Language Immersion Teacher; Spanish

Dual Language Immersion Teacher (Spanish) – 195 school days, full time.

Chris Yung Elementary. Reporting to the Principal. Effective 2026-27.

This position plans and implements a Spanish dual language immersion instructional program and provides related educational services for students in grades K‑5. It manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, modifies instructional activities as required, and carries out a variety of student monitoring and control activities in both Spanish and English.

• Implement a Spanish dual language instructional program, providing appropriate learning for each student in both Spanish and English.
• Plan and deliver instruction in accordance with Prince William County curriculum documents and specific teaching assignments.
• Assess student abilities relative to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
• Plan differentiated classroom instruction for a range of language proficiency levels and individual learning needs.
• Plan instructional and learning strategies, including classroom organization and adaptation of materials for emergent bilingual learners.
• Manage student behavior in the instructional setting to ensure a conducive learning environment and cooperate with broader school behavior management in other parts of the school.
• Participate in planning and evaluation of the school and county dual language immersion program.
• Request assistance of resource personnel as needed and ensure an appropriate learning environment for all students.
• Collaborate with other professional staff and coordinate instructional activities to maximize learning opportunities.
• Follow professional ethics and support parent/teacher partnerships.
• Enforce policies and regulations established by the Prince William County School Board and staff in accordance with program guidelines.
• Supervise student activities in buildings and on grounds during and after school hours, ensuring conduct and safety.
• Demonstrate prompt and accurate written communication and reports.
• Adhere to county and school disciplinary procedures.

• Work in a reading or technology lab if assigned.
• Perform any additional duties delegated or required to accomplish school objectives.

• Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to apply current research and theory to dual language immersion programs.
• Commitment to PWCS dual language immersion goals.
• Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment for instructional specialties.
• Knowledge of dual language immersion pedagogy and strategies for teaching academic content to second language learners.
• Understanding of child growth and development.
• Knowledge of Prince William County curricula, program of studies, and School Division goals.
• Ability to work with a broad range of students – gifted, students with disabilities, English language learners, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Skill in using multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons using the Standards-Based Instructional Planning Process.

• Minimum:
  Bachelor’s Degree.
• Preferred:
  Master’s Degree.
• Certification:
  Eligible for Virginia Teacher Certification Program or licensure, with endorsement(s) required for teaching assignments.

• Equivalent to at least Type Area or Field.
• Certification and License Requirements include state collegiate or post-graduate professional licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
