Make a meaningful difference in a students early learning journey by providing consultative support as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This unique contract position offers a chance to use your expertise in both Deaf/Hard of Hearing education and Visual Education, serving a medically fragile preschool student on an as‑needed basis. The role is designed for approximately 30 minutes per week, offering flexibility and focused impact.
Qualifications& Required Credentials
- Current Virginia Teaching Certification in Visual Education
- Valid DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) Certification
- Experience supporting students with complex medical needs is a plus
- Strong collaboration skills for working alongside families and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach
- Provide expert consultative services focused on the needs of one preschool student
- Develop, recommend, and adjust individualized strategies to remove barriers to communication, participation, and access
- Collaborate with family, educators, and medical professionals to maximize the students learning opportunities and well-being
- Support the implementation of tailored resources and accommodations as appropriate
- Maintain clear and timely documentation of services provided
This position is designed for educators seeking to make a specialized contribution in a highly flexible format. The assignment is projected to begin August 1st, 2026, with service needs dependent upon the students readiness and health status.
