Hourly Rate:
Certified Teacher: $25.50 Bachelor's Degree or Higher: $20.40 Associate's Degree or No Degree: $15.30

Description:

The Academic Tutor provides supplemental instructional support to students to strengthen academic skills, reinforce classroom learning, and improve student achievement. The tutor works collaboratively with teachers and administrators to provide targeted interventions, monitor student progress, and support the goals of the school's Title I program.

Qualifications

Teacher certification and/or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Associate degree or college credit, High School Diploma, GED required.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide supplemental instruction and academic intervention to individual students and small groups based on identified needs.
  • Support students in meeting grade-level academic standards and division learning expectations.
  • Implement evidence-based instructional strategies, intervention programs, and division-approved resources to improve student achievement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify student needs, coordinate services, and align tutoring support with classroom instruction.
  • Conduct or assist with student assessments, screenings, and progress-monitoring activities and maintain accurate records of student participation and performance.
  • Communicate appropriately with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and instructional support.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth.
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities related to instructional practices and Title I program requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and records in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and School Board policies.
  • Exercise reasonable care in the use of instructional materials, technology, equipment, and supplies.
  • Follow School Board policies, administrative regulations, and school procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of instructional strategies and interventions that support student learning. Ability to provide effective individual and small-group instruction. Ability to collect, maintain, and utilize student performance data. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff. Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in the use of instructional technology and educational software.

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone and to enter data into a computer. See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds and the ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. Some teaching specialties (i.e., music, art, physical education, etc.) may require hearing, vision, and physical coordination and/or exertion and effort more than those listed above. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.

Terms of Employment:
Part-time/Hourly As per the Work Agreement issued.
