Salary: $52,799 to $90,331 Per Year
Responsibilities- Push‑in support within general education classrooms.
- Small‑group and individualized instruction in the special education classroom.
- Collaboration with classroom teachers, interventionists, related service providers, and families.
- Maintain a homeroom of students and a caseload for special education services.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Create a conducive classroom environment and set clear objectives for lessons and projects.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and media considerate of students’ needs.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth using data, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
- Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Collaborate with staff members and the community to support students.
- Provide availability to students and parents outside instructional hours when reasonably requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal, superintendent, or designee.
Must hold an appropriate Virginia Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement in the assigned subject area or be eligible for a Provisional Teaching License.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four‑year college or university.
Language SkillsAbility to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of parents or the public.
Reasoning/Other AbilitiesAbility to apply common sense to follow simple one‑or two‑step instructions and to handle standardized situations with minimal variation.
Physical DemandsWork involves operation of office equipment and limited physical tasks, including above‑average walking, bending, standing, stooping, and lifting in a classroom environment.
