Position: CTE Teacher - Culinary Arts (2026-2027)

Plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
Essential Functions
Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced instruction, demonstration, and working time program.Instruct students on the knowledge and skills in the subject area, following the course of study adopted by the School Board and other appropriate learning activities.Provide instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities striving to meet each child's individual needs.Organize learning activities to achieve specific objectives, meet the State CTE competencies, and support the Virginia Standards of Learning.Serve as the student organization advisor associated with the required endorsement and maintain program standards as developed by the VDOE.In collaboration with the Coordinator of CTE support and develop work-based learning opportunities for students in the program area.Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment while assisting with supervision in the halls, cafeterias, and other areas that may be assigned.Maintain a daily record of student attendance and grades while evaluating each student's performance and growth in the subject area, prepare progress reports, and keep parents and guardians informed of progress.Select and requisition books, instructional materials, tools, and instructional aides and maintain required inventory records.Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, teachers, administrators, school counselors, and others.Maintain professional competence through training, curriculum, and developmental education activities at the school or division level or through self-selected professional growth activities.Deposit all monies collected with the Principal's designee on the day collected.Keep all records and submit all reports promptly and accurately as required.Instruct students on adequately caring for the classroom, equipment, materials, and lab area and using tools and equipment in the assigned subject area.Use the proper requisition forms and observe rules and regulations about purchasing supplies for instructional purposes.Keep the records and information concerning individual student's confidential data and use this information only for professional purposes.Make use of available instructional materials and other resources that are appropriate to the needs of the students.Attend staff meetings, serve on staff committees, and sponsor co-curricular clubs.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge,
Skills and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used to administer and supervise all facets of the assigned position.Thorough knowledge of prescribed School Board policies and procedures.Skill in using personal computers and related software packages, hardware, and peripheral equipment.Must report to work on a regular and punctual basis.Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in both oral and written formats.Ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Qualifications,
Education and Experience Hold a valid Virginia Department of Education teacher's license or certification with appropriate endorsement in subject areas for which employed; orHas completed the requirements for a Virginia certificate or license and has filed an application for same; orWill qualify for a Virginia certificate or license prior to the effective date of employment.Prior teaching experience and/or student teaching is strongly preferred.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Physical Requirements
