Bridgewater College invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Visiting Assistant Professor to teach classes in modern European History beginning August 17, 2026.

We are seeking a Modern European Historian who brings student-centered engagement and a passion for the study of history into the college classroom.

What You'll Do:

• Teach lower-level world history survey and upper-division courses in modern European history
• Teach 24 semester credits per year (4-4 distribution)
• Participate in the College's general education program
• Teach and mentor students within a liberal arts context

What You Bring:

• Creativity and innovation in pedagogy and research
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across campus

Preferred:

• Ph.D. in Modern European History (exclusive of Britain).
• Candidates who are ABD will be considered.
