Job DescriptionTitle: Elementary School Instructional Coach
Primary Function:
In collaboration with the building and division administrative staff, this position is responsible for supporting the school division’s elementary school teachers and division strategic plan. It provides coaching, support, and guidance to teachers in best practices for instruction at the elementary school level, offering intensive professional development through modeling, collaboration, and coaching.
Qualifications- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Hold a Virginia Department of Education teaching license.
- Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated successful instructional experience, general leadership ability, and personal characteristics necessary for working with staff, parents, and community.
- Preferred: five years of relevant teaching or coaching experience.
- Alternative qualifications as the Superintendent and School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Provides instructional support to elementary school teachers with focused outcomes on student achievement and success.
- Supports teachers through frequent classroom visits, observing instruction, planning for instruction, modeling and co‑teaching, consulting, reflection, and specific feedback.
- Assists teachers with classroom organization, materials, and learning activities that support the division’s strategic plan.
- Analyzes data to assist teachers and administrators in developing appropriate and targeted intervention plans for student success.
- Provides developmental assistance and resources for teachers to meet the learning needs of all students.
- Supports departmental teams by attending and participating in department meetings.
- Conducts district‑wide professional development with central office staff to ensure consistent support of the division’s strategic plan.
- Attends staff development and professional activities to improve knowledge of instructional strategies, coaching skills, and adult learning theory.
- Assists staff in integrating technology into the classroom through consultation.
- Actively participates in and supports intervention plans for students as determined by the elementary school intervention team.
- Works collaboratively with the division teacher support and mentorship coordinator to support teachers in their first three years.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.
Duties performed primarily in school settings: classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. Requires frequent walking, standing, light lifting up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support; regular contact with staff members and parents; occasional contact with medical professionals.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on personnel evaluation.
Terms of Contract10‑month – 200 days (7.5 hours a day)
Salary: $57,204 to $77,103 Per Year
