Job DescriptionJob Title: Auto Tech I & 2 Teacher
Terms of Employment: 230 days
Pay Grade: Teacher Scale
Job Summary: To provide appropriate instruction in subject areas and skill development that will contribute to the students’ development as mature, able and responsible citizens.
Essential Duties:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom decorum.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons.
- Provides the students with a variety of instructional techniques.
- Strives to implement the school system’s philosophy and goals.
- Assesses the accomplishment of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by administrative regulations and policy.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
Minimum Education and Education
Qualifications:
Must possess a Technical Professional License in Auto Tech or be currently certified as a professional practitioner in the area in which the individual is to be teaching, if applicable, or can demonstrate competency in the area of trade and industrial education the individual is to be teaching. Evidence of at least two years of successful full‑time or the equivalent occupational experience within the past five years in the teaching specialty for which the individual is seeking endorsement.
Must be able to provide satisfactory references of teaching or work performance and have completed appropriate testing requirements. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Physical Demands: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods; exhibit manual dexterity; see and read a computer screen; hear and understand speech; speak in audible tones; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
