Substitute must work no less than 1 day per month.

Location

Substitute must be able and willing to work at any of the listed schools:
Staunton River High, Staunton River Middle, Goodview Elementary, Stewartsville Elementary, Moneta Elementary, or Huddleston Elementary Schools.

Job Summary

To enable each child/student to pursue an education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of their regular teacher.

Essential Duties

• Reports to the School Office upon arrival to sign‑in.
• Reviews substitute plans, attendance forms, and schedules to be followed during the teaching day and contacts the office with questions.
• Teaches the lessons outlined in the absent teacher’s lesson plan.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers, including good teaching practices.
• Assumes responsibility for pupil behavior during lunch, recess, and any fire or other disaster drills.
• Records assignments made and evaluates students’ work.
• Performs additional duties and assumes responsibilities assigned by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma (or GED), an associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree. Minimum age is eighteen (18) years. Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered appropriate by the School Board or Superintendent.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, exhibit manual dexterity, hear and understand speech at normal levels, speak in audible tones, and move with enough physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds and perform routine movements such as bending, stooping, climbing stairs, walking, and reaching overhead.

Work Environment

The work environment is generally low to moderate in noise level. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
