Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. By applying, you will be added to a pool that the departmental search committee may draw from as needed throughout the academic year.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach courses in the approved discipline.
- Provide instruction that facilitates student acquisition of specific learning outcomes for the assigned courses.
- Mentor students inside and outside the classroom.
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual‑credit modalities.
- Provide timely feedback, respond to student communications, and submit final grades promptly.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings and complete any required training.
- Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
All faculty members must meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for teaching workforce certificate or degree completion courses, which include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the discipline. Acceptable credentials are:
- Associate degree and 2–5 years of work experience in the field.
- Bachelor’s degree and 6–10 years of work experience in the field.
- Master’s degree and 11–15 years of work experience in the field.
- Doctorate degree and 16+ years of work experience in the field.
A minimum of five years of work experience in the electrical field‑service, installation, and repair, and possession of a valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Copies of current license/certificates must be submitted with the application.
Preferred Education & ExperienceCompleted a course in teaching adults or have experience instructing/training adults from diverse backgrounds, or supervising electrical technicians.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities• Instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit courses.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and the public.
• Treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice, without discrimination based on protected characteristics.
• Practice professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
• Observe College policies and procedures.
This position is designated as a security‑sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males aged 18 to 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
