Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool that is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, which may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
Faculty are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to college policies and procedures. They are required to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation, provide timely feedback, respond to student communications promptly, assess student performance, submit final grades in a timely manner, maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses at departmental and institutional levels, complete any required training, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives of all assigned courses; create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice without discrimination;
exercise high professional and ethical standards; and observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
Preferred Education- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science.
- Two or more years of non‑teaching industry experience.
- Two or more years of teaching experience in Computer Basics and/or Business Computer Applications.
This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
