Paraprofessional – General Education and Special Education

Salary: $21,803 to $33,026 Per Year

Location: Low Moor, Virginia

Assist teachers in classroom settings for both general and special education students.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree equivalent or successful completion of the Para Professional Assessment exam.

Physical Demands/Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 60 pounds of equipment, materials, and/or students.

Reports to: Principal, Classroom Teacher.

• Carry out instructional activities under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.
• May carry out particular routine aspects of the instructional program under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff.
• Assist in ensuring adequate supervision for students.
• Assume responsibility for professional growth and keep materials, supplies and skills up-to-date.
• Complete state autism training requirements and participate in other professional development activities, as requested.
• Candidate must possess good moral character.
• Promote a positive attitude in daily communications with students and school employees.
• Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
• Communicate effectively, using good grammar.
• Practice confidentiality of work-related matters.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

• 10‑month contract.
• Non‑exempted FLSA status.
• Salary will be established annually by the School Board.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
