Position: Allied Trades Specialist (91E) Instructor

Job Title

Allied Trades Specialist (Welding and Machining) (91E) Instructor

Responsibilities
  • Provide instructor/writer training including classroom sessions, discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises as part of performance-oriented training. Conduct simulation or virtual training and/or field exercise training.
  • Participate as a subject‑matter expert in revising and updating the Program of Instruction, lesson plans, and training support materials to ensure doctrinal accuracy.
  • Maintain equipment, record faults, perform PMCS, prepare classrooms and training environments, conduct counseling, and record academic information.
Qualifications
  • Completed Common Faculty Development – Instructor Course (CFDIC) or equivalent within the last five years and TRADOC Initial Military Training (IMT) Installation Staff and Contractors Course (ISCC). Refresher training required if outside the five‑year window.
  • Completed Blackboard 101 Instructor Training within three years of work, as required by the course being instructed.
  • Possess the MOS and ASI specific technical training for the role and have been certified.
  • Minimum three years’ technical and tactical training experience within the MOS, plus three years specific experience in teaching, developing, or reviewing course materials, training aids, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and doctrine regarding the MOS. Capable of passing all hands‑on and written student tests in accordance with the Ordnance School Instructional Management SOP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Excel).
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Detail oriented with excellent organization, planning, coordination, and time‑management skills.
  • Effective problem‑solving and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience developing and updating lesson plans and training materials.
  • Outstanding verbal and non‑verbal communicative skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training during the period of employment.
Specific Qualification Requirements

Must possess skills in welding and/or machining. Required to hold a certificate in one or more of the following, or equivalent: ARMY‑91E Allied Trades Specialist; USMC‑2161 Machinist; USMC‑1316 Welder; USAF‑2A7X1 Metals Technologist;
National Institute Metalworking Skills;
American Welding Society; or other national, union, or employer certifications. Minimum three years’ hands‑on technical experience in welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) or machining applications (CNC lathe, CNC milling, CAD/CAM).

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

A NA/CI background check will be required for this position.

Work Environment

Must be able to work outside in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Must be able to perform moderate lifting (not to exceed 100 pounds), standing for long periods, sitting or walking up to eight hours per day indoors, and endure inclement weather.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Travel

Minimal travel for corporate support may occur for this position.
