Job Summary: The position is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher by performing tasks assigned and directed by the teacher. The tasks must not infringe upon the responsibilities reserved for the certified teacher. The Student Support Monitor actively participates in preventing behavioral problems and provides support for their assigned students. This involves active communication with the teacher and may require a written behavior plan tailored to the specific student.

The monitor must remain with the student at all times, except during the monitor's scheduled time as specified in the child's plan. The monitor should not be assigned other duties that separate them from their student.

Essential Duties: The following responsibilities may be performed:

• Assist students in achieving instructional goals and objectives.
• Assist students with personal care and toileting needs.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining daily student data.
• Assist the classroom teacher in specific tasks that will lead to students achieving instructional goals.
• Escort the student at all times.
• Report any student problems or issues to the team.
• Perform related tasks as needed to meet individual student needs.

Hours and Benefits: The service will be faded in accordance with policy. This is not a contracted position. Employment is based upon student need and funding and may be discontinued at any time. The Student Support Monitor will not be employed during suspensions and planned student absences. Because this position is considered part-time, it does not carry benefits such as sick leave or personal days.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, Transcript, or GED
• Basic reading, writing, and computation skills
• Previous experience working with groups of children
• Good physical and emotional health
• Respect and protect the confidentiality of students, staff, families, and so forth
• Willingness to accept teacher direction
• Office management skills, such as typing, computer literacy, and filing for Medicaid services rendered

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; manual dexterity to dial a telephone and enter data into a computer; vision to see and read a computer screen and printed material (with or without aids); hearing and understanding speech at normal classroom levels indoor and outdoor; speaking in audible tones; physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds;

capacity to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
