The Department of English at Marshall University seeks to fill a three‑year term instructor position to begin in August 2026. Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of teaching excellence and a commitment to educating the Marshall University student population.

• Teach a 4/4 teaching load of courses in the composition sequence (ENG 101, 101P, 201, 201H) and other general‑education courses within the College of Liberal Arts.
• Deliver a full‑time teaching load of 12 hours per semester.
• Participate in service, scholarship, and/or creative activities as directed by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and/or the Chair of the Department of English.
• Contribute to the university’s general‑education curriculum and promote high‑impact teaching practices, including Community‑Based Learning, Critical Thinking, First‑Year Seminar, and Writing Across the Curriculum initiatives.
• Support interdisciplinary programs of study within the College of Liberal Arts.

• Education:
  
  MA in English, MFA in creative writing, or PhD in English.
• Experience:
  
  Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
