Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to join our team at Orange County High as a Special Education Teacher. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate with other educators, staff, and families to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and social growth, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to ensure academic success.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive educational experience.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills, using a variety of teaching methods and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
- Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters respect, independence, and self-advocacy among students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and community, fostering a supportive network for families.
- Manage classroom behavior and implement positive behavioral interventions to support student learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with external agencies and resources to provide additional support services as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education or willing to obtain.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies and interventions.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
