Job Description
- Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay.

Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are currently seeking adjunct faculty members for daytime, in-person teaching assignments at our Culpeper location in the field of Geography. This position will work with the Future Educators Academy (FEA) a Virginia Collegiate Partnership Lab School.

FEA must meet VDOE requirements for Virginia Teacher Licensure. Ideal candidates would hold a K12 Virginia Teaching License. If applicants do not hold an active K12 Virginia Teaching License, Germanna Community College may provide the opportunity for the additional VDOE requirements.

This position is located in Virginia. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance.

Duties and Tasks:

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Essential Functions:

As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.

Special Assignments

KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline. Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer. Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication. Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.

Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely. All teaching positions of Germanna Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually. Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education. Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS
2.2 prior to teaching. Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.

Additional Considerations - FEA Requirements:
Valid Virginia K12 Teaching License (preferred) or willingness to seek licensure. Prior teaching experience. Work experience in the field. Experience with on-line teaching. Planning and teaching courses in the classroom. Creating curriculum that meets the needs of the students and learning outcomes. Support student success. Communicate effectively with students and colleagues. Assess student learning and meet the requirements of the program.
