Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Teacher in Special Education. This full-time position involves working with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of special education practices, be skilled in creating individualized education plans (IEPs), and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through formal and informal assessments, providing feedback to students and parents.
  • Provide support and guidance to students in developing social skills and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavioral incidents.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities within the school community.
  • Collaborate with support staff, including paraprofessionals and therapists, to deliver effective instruction and support services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education or willing to obtain.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to create a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for supporting diverse learners.
