Location: Orange

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long Term Substitute Teacher for our Special Education program at Orange Elementary. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs and will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment. This position is essential to ensuring that students continue to receive high-quality education and support during the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Responsibilities
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that all accommodations and modifications are met.
  • Deliver instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods and materials to suit the diverse learning styles of students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to help students achieve their academic and behavioral goals.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers to coordinate services and support for students.
  • Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures while fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or licensure in Special Education preferred.
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the dynamic needs of the classroom.
