C. Tyler Village in Lignum, Virginia.
Childhelp is a psychiatric residential treatment facility specializing in treating children aged 5‑14 with mild to severe trauma or neglect, psychiatric disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our unique location on a 270‑acre farm provides a nurturing setting with a variety of therapy resources. We bring the light of love and healing into the lives of countless abused and neglected children, and those suffering from psychiatric and behavioral disorders.

Starting salary: $58,746, depending on education and experience.
Earn a $1,000 bonus after successful completion of essential skills training within 90 days.

- Contact with parents primarily handled by case management department.
As a Teacher you will:
- Plan and implement instructional programs for students requiring services outside of the public school environment.
- Provide related academic instruction and educational services to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
- Manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as required for either single or multi‑grade level, subject, skill, or specialty orientation.
- Maintain a caseload of students requiring special education services.
- Participate in IEP, ITP, ETP development and team planning meetings, staffing, and Teacher’s meetings, sharing information and opinions.
- Participate in writing either an Education Treatment Plan (ETP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP) and facilitate therapeutic teaching strategies that correspond with the plan.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- VA Teaching Credential in Special Education or General Education. Credentialing assistance available.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies, methodologies, and research related to learning with at‑risk, high‑school‑aged youth.
- Effective classroom management techniques and behavior management styles.
- Ability to establish teaching rapport with students, diagnose, prescribe, and evaluate student progress, collaborate with staff, and confront inappropriate behavior appropriately.
- Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
