Summary

Orange County High is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fill a Long Term Substitute position in Theater and Government. This role is designed for an educator who can inspire students through creative expression in theater while also fostering critical thinking and civic engagement in government studies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both subjects and a commitment to creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.

This position is scheduled around September 15th through October 9th.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for theater and government courses that align with state standards and school curriculum.
  • Facilitate classroom discussions and activities that promote student participation and critical thinking.
  • Direct and supervise student performances, including rehearsals, set design, and production elements.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and performances, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate theater and government concepts across the curriculum.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages student creativity and expression.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and uphold school policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Valid teaching certification or equivalent credentials for teaching in the respective subjects preferred.
  • Proven experience in teaching theater and/or government at the high school level is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of theater production, including acting, directing, and stage management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient in using technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students and the school community.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
