Fork Union Military Academy, an all-boys college-preparatory boarding school located in the scenic heart of central Virginia near Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, seeks a dedicated and mission-driven History/Social Studies Instructor for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Fork Union Military Academy's mission is to educate, develop, and inspire young men in a college-preparatory, Christian, military-structured environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and provide high-quality History and Social Studies instruction aligned with the Academy's college-preparatory curriculum and established course objectives.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom that recognizes the developmental needs of adolescent boys and promotes learning, accountability, and student success.
- Assess student progress, submit grades and required reports on time, and communicate professionally with cadets, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Collaborate with Academic, Athletic, and Residential Life staff to provide a consistent and supportive cadet experience.
- Serve as a cadet advisor, participate in chapel and daily devotionals, and fulfill assigned activity and residential life responsibilities.
- Model and uphold the Academy's mission, core values, professional standards, and expectations while participating in ongoing professional development.
A bachelor's degree is required, with a master's degree preferred. Candidates should have a major concentration in History, Social Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field, or at least 24 semester hours of coursework in the applicable content area. Relevant alternative education, training, or experience may be considered. Previous experience teaching or working with adolescents is preferred.
Candidates should possess strong instructional, classroom-management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills and be knowledgeable of and willing to support VAIS Standards of Accreditation as they apply to instruction and faculty responsibilities. Successful completion of all required background screenings and drug testing is required.
CompensationCompensation is based on experience, qualifications, and the housing option selected:
- Position without Academy housing: $50,000-$60,000 annually
- Position with Academy housing included: $40,000-$50,000 annually
Academy housing is subject to availability and the terms of the Academy's housing agreement.
