Job Description Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment will add you to a pool that the departmental search committee can consider when a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.

Teaching Modalities

The adjunct faculty member must create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary depending on the need and course schedule and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.

Required Education

All faculty members must possess the minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.

  • Associate degree and/or 2‑5 years work experience in the field of study
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 6‑10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
  • Master’s degree and/or 11‑15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
  • Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
Required Experience
  • LCDC, MA, MSW, LCSW, LPC

Copies of certificates/license must be submitted with the application.

Preferred Education / Experience

Work in the Helping Profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students both in and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member must create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, be they face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction.

Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation. Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly. Assess student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion. Maintain ethical and professional behavior. Be available to students by appointment. Attend adjunct faculty meetings. Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.

Complete any required training. Other related duties, as assigned.

All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
