Job DutiesVirginia Energy’s Gas and Oil Division is seeking a Compliance and Permitting Specialist to provide permitting, compliance oversight, and technical support for Virginia Energy and its customers. This role is responsible for reviewing and approving permit applications and conducting a wide range of field inspections to ensure safe and environmentally responsible operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and approving gas and oil permits
- Conducting drilling, hydraulic fracturing, cementing, and safety inspections
- Performing environmental compliance inspections
- Investigating complaints and conducting follow‑up inspections
- Overseeing plugging and reclamation inspections
- Providing technical guidance and information to internal and external stakeholders
This position focuses on operations related to well drilling, compression, pipelines, and associated activities.
Minimum Qualifications- Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing gas and oil operations
- Knowledge of the methods and practices of gas and oil permitting, prospecting, site construction, drilling, completion, production, and of the related conservation considerations with respect to other minerals and energy resources
- Ability to secure the cooperation of industry representatives in complying with law and regulation
- Ability to meet and deal with the public
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to utilize computers and basic software systems
- Ability to walk distances up and down the mountainous terrain throughout the gas and oil industry
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Hydrogen Sulfide certification and Blow‑out certification is preferred
- Ability to interpret Geophysical logs is preferred
