Senior Project Manager – Healthcare
Dewberry’s North Carolina and Virginia offices are seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager – Healthcare to serve as the primary liaison between our team and the client. In this pivotal role, you will manage projects from initial concept through design, bidding, negotiation, and construction administration, ensuring a seamless experience that fosters long‑term client relationships.
Responsibilities- Maintain primary one‑to‑one contact with the client.
- Understand the client’s needs and goals.
- Draft proposals for new projects with existing clients, track through award, and work with client to develop additional work.
- Attend regular design meetings with the client and issue meeting minutes.
- Lead, organize, and schedule design team staff.
- Organize and direct frequent in‑house design meetings.
- Approve and oversee design and construction documents, sign and seal as Engineer or Record.
- Prepare detailed personnel loading by task interfaced with the detailed schedule.
- Coordinate with Design Discipline Managers to schedule, plan and assign appropriate personnel.
- Prepare storyboards and detailed project timeline.
- Organize and maintain project design folder.
- Document meetings and telephone conversations.
- Provide quality control to ensure client needs are met and coordinate among all disciplines.
- Provide on‑the‑spot advice and decisions to Owner.
- Advise on project billing and assist in collections.
- Supervise and coordinate submission of documents to reviewing authorities (DOI, SCO, DHSR, DFS, IRI, etc.).
- Coordinate responses to reviews and ensure changes are reflected in drawings and specifications.
- Arrange in‑house quality review.
- Arrange and attend pre‑bid conferences, issue meeting minutes and addenda.
- Conduct bid openings and prepare/issue certified bid tabulation. Coordinate to ensure CA phase puts Dewberry in positive standing.
- Perform site visits, inspections as required to support Construction Administration.
- Assist with recruiting, evaluating, and making recommendations for new employees to support MEP healthcare practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Accomplished Professional Engineer (PE) with 15+ years of experience preferred.
- Knowledgeable of construction process, familiar with AIA contracts.
- Self‑motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, with good understanding of healthcare plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems including applicable codes, national standards, client design standards, system operation, space requirements, and cost.
