Air Quality Monitoring Assurance Specialist
Seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to provide data evaluation and validation skills to support the Air Monitoring Data team's mission to provide timely and accurate quality assured data to the Environmental Protection Agency and the General Public. This position primarily supports and advances the improvement of air quality by ensuring the collection and reporting of accurate and complete air quality data.
Please note this position follows a hybrid work schedule to include both in-office and telework. Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia.
Hiring Range: $62,000-$82,000
Full Time or Part Time: FULL TIME
ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating Air Quality Data Operations, responding to Air Quality Data inquiries, participating in the Office Performance Audit Program and maintaining Sampling Site Information in AQS. This position will perform ongoing reviews of data received from both laboratories and field instrumentation, identify errors and problems with the data, apply appropriate system flags to the data consistent with EPA and DEQ requirements, and upload this data to the EPA Air Quality AQS database.
Qualifications- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and engineering practices and principles in ambient air quality monitoring
- Ability to conduct statistical evaluation of air quality data with demonstrated ability to work independently, with agency staff, EPA personnel, and the general public
- Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and SharePoint) and programming experience with R and/or Python
- Combination of education or training with major coursework in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science or basic science
- Experience, supplemental work or courses in statistics, web design, computer software and programming, and air pollution data generation indicating possession of knowledge and abilities
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication with ability to present technical data reports and information
- This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle. Therefore, a valid driver's license is required
- Must have the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
