Job Summary:

The safe and reliable operation of a nuclear power station takes more than great technology and equipment; it depends upon a team of professionals fully committed to a healthy Nuclear Safety Culture. Each and every team member is expected to approach their work with a questioning attitude and to raise potential safety concerns without fear of harassment, intimidation, retaliation, or discrimination.

To nurture a culture of safety and to fulfill its regulatory commitments, Dominion Energy's Nuclear Business Unit (NBU) operates an Employee Concerns Department (ECP). The ECP provides technical, investigative and administrative direction for both fleetwide and site-specific nuclear safety programs. Areas of focus will include plant operations, radiological releases, safeguards, radiation protection, and other matters relating to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulated activities.

The ECP is actively seeking to hire an Employee Concerns Program Specialist ("Specialist") to support both the North Anna Power Station (Mineral, VA) and the Surry Power Station (Surry, VA). This single role will be based at either North Anna or Surry. The Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Providing recommendations and guidance to management on the appropriate methods and strategies in handling Safety issues or employee problems
  • Contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Employee Concerns Program by conducting or coordinating comprehensive and thorough investigations into safety-related concerns
  • Preparing written reports of issues and investigatory findings
  • Directly responsible for the implementation and maintenance for the ECP within the assigned region
  • Responsible for the implementation of an effective concerns tracking program and the identification and reporting of trends
  • Providing advice to Plant and Employee Concerns Program management with regards to addressing concerns and trends
  • Providing a listening ear to employee issues, assisting employees with the appropriate pathway for concerns and issues
  • Providing training on topics related to ECP and facilitating employee group meetings with regards to Safety Culture

The nature of the work may require periods of heavy workload and involve irregular or unpredictable hours of work. Periodically there may be considerable work pressures involving delicate and/or potentially serious matters related to major functions of the NBU or involving several employees.
