Position Summary
Our Project Managers are experienced in commercial HVAC and Mechanical Construction and enjoy the challenge of unique designs, projects, and deadlines. They run jobs big and small, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, while providing leadership to project engineers and partnering with field staff to ensure flawless project delivery.
They manage project milestones, identify and coordinate resource requirements, exercise a high level of judgment, and work autonomously within company processes. They are eager to learn the Southland way of doing work, collaborate with teams at all levels, and share past knowledge to help the team succeed. They are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and execute all project management activities, thriving in a collaborative environment to achieve division and project goals.
Job DescriptionThis role can be for a traveling PM who is able to be on site during the week and travel home on the weekend, or for a candidate ready to relocate with a relocation package.
Position Details- Provide support to a single large project or multiple projects managed by Senior Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Work with craftsmen, foremen, and owner stakeholders on self-performing projects.
- Plan projects from start to finish, understanding all moving parts and the project lifecycle.
- Apply Lean principles and understand owner expectations to deliver results.
- Manage financials to keep projects on track.
- Develop and nurture customer relationships beyond a single project.
- Mentor early‑career professionals, preparing them for the next step in their career.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, process piping, including design and construction.
- Passionate about planning, innovating, and improving daily processes.
- Capable of long‑term planning (3–6 months) and achieving successful outcomes.
- Experience running jobs, tracking field production, and building supportive relationships.
- Creative problem‑solver who can lead the team in innovative construction techniques and prefabrication strategies.
- Strong experience managing mechanical construction projects for a mechanical company.
- Accountable, self‑motivated, and proactive in project initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders for mutual outcomes.
- Strong leadership skills, business acumen, and integrity.
- Proficient in project financials and forecasting.
- Established relationships with field teams and knowledge of maximizing team performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management with 7–10+ years of related experience.
- Experience managing multiple MEP projects at an MEP firm is required.
- Experience with process piping, Design/Build, IPD projects, and Lean Construction tools is a plus.
