Location: Richmond Seppic, VA
Pay Range: $83,000 – $100,000 DOE plus bonus
Travel: 0‑5% based on business needs
Work Schedule: 8‑hour shift, Monday‑Friday (on‑call)
Responsibilities- Assist with the development and implementation of Seppic’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities in compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements.
- Collaborate with personnel and external agencies to ensure the overall HSE strategy is successful and to minimize safety, environmental, and security risks.
- Maintain continuous compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Read, interpret, and apply regulations, consensus standards, and internal HSE documents.
- Assist with the development and deployment of HSE requirements.
- Support compliance tasks for environmental permits (air, stormwater, wastewater).
- Manage the hazardous waste program as a large quantity generator and oversee site non‑hazardous waste activities.
- Help develop and implement site sustainability improvements.
- Deliver training on HSE programs.
- Assist with hazardous material shipments by ground, air, and vessel.
- Conduct job hazard analyses for routine and non‑routine work.
- Support departments with on‑demand hazard recognition and the completion of safe work permits for non‑routine work tasks (e.g., LOTO, confined space, working‑at‑height, line breaks, hot work, hazardous chemicals, scaffolding, MEWPs, powered industrial trucks).
- Collaborate across departments to improve policies and procedures and identify gaps to reduce overall risk.
- Empower departments to drive safety performance improvements and mitigate hazards.
- Participate in incident and near‑miss investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action development using HOP and Just Culture principles.
- Drive completion of preventive and corrective actions.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment (fire extinguishers, safety showers, eyewash stations, spill kits, AEDs).
- Assist with site industrial hygiene activities to monitor and mitigate hazardous exposures.
- Support emergency preparedness activities and conduct emergency drills on all shifts.
- Assist with contractor safety management and oversee contractor activities.
- Support management of the site security plan.
- Assist with Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance tasks.
- Partner with other departments for special projects and program development.
- Maintain the web‑based safety data sheet system.
- Track, compile, and report safety and environmental data in internal and external software applications.
- Prepare safety and environmental reports.
- Assist with regulatory inspections and internal audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5 years of experience in an industrial setting where at least 50% of responsibilities focused on implementing and/or developing HSE programs.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT requirements through training or experience.
- Demonstrable experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous waste.
- Comfortable working in an office environment with computers and in the field, including during inclement weather and emergency situations.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, ascend/descend stairs, and work in hot, cold, and loud environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental field.
- 3‑5 years of experience managing safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Completion of OSHA 30‑hour and RCRA training courses.
- First Aid/CPR/AED training.
- Formal training in HOP/HPI/HOF.
