Electronic Technician III – The Building People, LLC
The Building People, LLC is seeking an Electronic Technician III. Knowledge of telecommunications and electronics principles and practices is required to perform duties in areas such as electronic surveillance, intrusion detection, wireless networks, LAN/WAN, electronic security (physical, cryptographic, tempest, intrusion detection, access control), forensic audio and video analysis, telephone facilities, electrical systems, and secure communication systems. Experience with wide‑ and narrow‑band communications equipment and related schematics is also required.
Performs all of the following duties:
- Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
- Requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and selecting tools and testing instruments.
- Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher‑level technician, and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
- May provide technical guidance to lower‑level technicians.
- Installs and maintains complex communications/network and intrusion detection systems and associated wide/narrow‑band wireless communication equipment, audio, video equipment, surveillance devices and other security‑related equipment.
- Performs technical work in specialized and functional areas including electronic surveillance, data network, video analysis, image, audio, wireless, networking, electronic security, microwave, etc., to handle routine and well‑defined special assignments.
- Has the ability to integrate technology with security requirements and emerging threats.
- Implements connectivity of equipment during crisis situations where immediate security operations are necessary.
- Designs basic approaches to resolve technical problems with conventional equipment.
- Functions in compliance with national standards and policies relating to the technical design of complex electronic equipment, communications systems and techniques, operating within regulatory guidelines.
- Assists in the delivery, installation and/or deployment of unique and innovative systems.
- Interprets and functions in compliance with technical specifications for system development, including scope, definition, missions, threats, interface definitions, performance characteristics, maintainability, reliability, environmental conditions, physical design, electromagnetic and radio frequency interference requirements, human performance, documentation, and other planning and development stage requirements.
- Assists in establishing secure communication systems at a command center or SCF.
- Repairs equipment and performs corrective maintenance in assigned programmatic area(s).
- Inspects and tests equipment/systems to ensure technical integrity and, if necessary, proposes appropriate corrective action.
- Reviews pertinent technical manuals to remain current with technology.
- Works extensively outdoors in the installation and maintenance of a wide array of technical equipment; uses ladders, safety equipment and may be required to navigate rooftops and tight spaces.
- Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals, such as determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes.
- Requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits.
- Exercises independent judgment in performing tasks such as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow.
- Uses complex test instruments such as high‑frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer‑controlled equipment.
- Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
- Manages, schedules, and integrates with complex security plans.
- Trains junior CSP Electronics Technicians as required (on‑job training will be reported on a Training Roster).
