Materials Test Engineer Or Materials Scientist
Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Hands-on experience with materials characterization and thermal analysis techniques. Experience working in laboratory environments and conducting experimental testing. Understanding of material properties, test methods, and data analysis. Ability to work safely around high-temperature equipment and laboratory hazards. U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE or DoD security clearance.
Experience operating DSC, LFA, Dilatometry, and/or STA equipment.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience Master's or PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or closely related field. Experience with high-temperature materials testing. Experience in nuclear materials, radiological environments, national laboratories, NASA research facilities, or advanced R&D organizations. Familiarity with ASTM standards, quality systems, and laboratory documentation practices. Experience working with furnaces operating at elevated temperatures. Experience supporting materials development, characterization, or qualification programs.
Job Description Our client is seeking a Materials Test Engineer or Materials Scientist to support advanced materials characterization and testing programs at a state-of-the-art R&D facility in Virginia. This individual will be responsible for conducting high-temperature materials testing, analyzing test results, and supporting the development of material property databases and technical handbooks. The role supports a variety of research programs, including nuclear fuel development and advanced materials initiatives, within a dynamic, project-driven environment.
This is on-site 5 days a week. Salary ranges from $95,.
