Job SummaryAs a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our casino property and its patrons. Your duties include responding to security incidents, providing a visible security presence in the casino, observing patrons for infractions of house rules, and maintaining a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity while representing the casino in all interactions with guests.
You need to be attentive, reliable, and capable of making sound judgment in difficult situations.
- Practice, support, and maintain the Mission, Vision, and Values of The Rose Gaming Resort.
- Ensure the safety of all guests and employees of the casino/hotel.
- Record investigations and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Provide customer service to all guests when needed.
- Assist with the transfer of money and chips from the casino floor.
- Patrol the casino/hotel during shift to ensure safety.
- Maintain adherence to casino rules, policies, and regulations set by the casino and the VA Gaming Commission.
- Stand post for extended periods as assigned by manager.
- Report day‑to‑day responsibilities to supervisor/manager.
- Control and diffuse potential problems and assist employees and guests in emergencies.
- Control access to the video lottery facility and restricted areas.
- Respond to back‑up calls immediately.
- Drive a company vehicle when required (must have a good driving record).
- Prepare reports of significant activities.
- Maintain radio contact with base during assigned shift.
- Attend periodic meetings and training sessions; check identification for gaming floor admittance; greet guests and vendors positively and professionally.
- Maintain crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest profanity.
- Conduct cash escorts as required.
- Investigate incidents and compose written reports; observe, handle, and report procedural violations and illegal activity.
- Act in place of Security Lead as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
- Obtain and retain required license(s).
- Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Ensure minors are not allowed to gamble, loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Have knowledge of ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.
- Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gaming.
- Report any acts of wrongdoing that you may have knowledge of.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- One year of experience in law enforcement, military, security, or customer service; or pursuing a related degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or similar field.
- Successful completion of an in‑house training program.
- Ability to communicate in spoken and written English clearly.
- Ability to accept, prioritize, and follow through on work direction.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations, utilizing rational thinking and decision making.
- Valid driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Flexibility to work including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50–100 pounds.
- Virginia Racing Commission License
- Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
