Security Guard
SUMMARY
Guards industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Patrol buildings and grounds of the work site periodically.
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
- Follow all hazardous waste handling guidelines.
- Warn violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehend or expel miscreants.
- Inspect equipment and machinery for tampering.
- Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
- Sound alarm or call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Permit authorized persons to enter the property.
- Register at watch stations to record the time of inspection trips.
- Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning machinery or equipment for supervisory staff.
- Complete records and maintain logs.
- Perform janitorial duties and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.
- Assist with after‑hour equipment pickup and delivery.
- Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the plant entrance to maintain order.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferably with previous experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works under immediate supervision; does not typically require independent judgment.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned work.
- Respond to standard requests from internal and external customers.
- Solve routine problems by following defined procedures.
