PositionMortgage Underwriter (Full-time) – Scheduled hours: 40 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

OverviewThe Mortgage Underwriter will review and decide mortgage, correspondent, and home equity loans, following Credit Union underwriting guidelines and/or agency underwriting guidelines, while remaining in compliance with all state and federal laws.

- Decide first mortgage loan applications, correspondent loan submissions, and home equity loan applications according to credit union and/or agency guidelines depending on the product.
- Assist in training, mortgage appraisal analysis and other assignments by management. Make recommendations regarding loan policies and procedures updates, including credit union underwriting guidelines. Provide monthly quality assessments of loan officer submission quality to branch management.
- Field phone calls and answer questions regarding decisions made, from both internal colleagues, members and correspondent lenders.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Produce underwriting decisions within stated service level agreements ensuring compliance with all guidelines.
- Maintain low delinquency ratio.
- Provide an informed, professional, courteous atmosphere with all communication offered to members, colleagues and third parties.
- Provide quarterly underwriting and appraisal review meetings.
- Proactively demonstrate the 1st Advantage FCU core values of accountable, adaptable, driven, dependable, and fun.
- Experience:
Two to three years of similar or related experience. - Education:
(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. - Interpersonal

Ability to analyze data in loan applications and make decisions using logical decision-making skills that weigh the outcomes of a decision. Continuous alertness, precision and concentration to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of work.
