Project Accountant, Lead

Position Summary

Lead Project Accountant coordinates all phases of construction job costing for large and small projects, ensures vendor compliance, supervises a team of project accountants, and works with project managers to provide timely, accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions.
• Operate assigned areas ensuring accuracy and integrity of accounting systems and internal controls.
• Monitor financials, coordinate collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data, and prepare standard and special reports.
• Maintain knowledge of best practices and current and proposed legislation and regulation; recommend changes to accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Work with the accounting manager on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
• Lead departmental projects, including change/implementation of new policies and procedures.
• Review and complete analysis of complex accounting issues.
• Provide coaching and training to, and supervise, less‑experienced Project Accountants.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or Construction Management.
• Excellent organization skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to transfer knowledge to junior level staff.
• Excellent ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Excellent ability to analyze and resolve difficult issues.
• Excellent ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
