Reports To: Director of the Lee County Public Schools Head Start
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, fiscal management or related field with preferable three years’ experience
Special Requirements: Meet eligibility to be bonded;
Approval from the Head Start Regional Office
Job Description: The Head Start fiscal officer is responsible for managing the financial operations of the Head Start program and ensuring compliance with all Head Start standards, federal, state, and local regulations and time frames.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Budget and financial Planning
- Creating and maintaining the program budget
- Tracking expenditures and ensuring compliance to the planned
- Accounting and Recordkeeping
- Maintain financial records and accounts with proper documentation that reflect the program’s current financial status in RDA.
- Determine program fiscal needs and request funds via Payment Management System to assure disbursement within the timeframe as stipulated by federal regulations.

- Compliance and Audit
- Ensures program fiscal operations meet all requirements and policies for local, state, and federal
- Internal Controls and Procedures
- Ensures appropriate internal controls and financial procedures are in
- Financial Reporting
- Prepares accurate monthly financial data reports for program director, Policy Council, Governing body and OHS in a timely manner.
- Other Financial Tasks
- Provides an effective system for preparation and processing purchase orders for the Head Start
- Leads in the preparation of grant applications with the approval of the
- Manages the fiscal component in grant
- Collaboration and Teamwork
- Works closely with Head Start staff to support a comprehensive service
- Participates in staff
- Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or
- Maintains confidentiality of all records and information regarding the

- This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required include stooping and/or kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing.
