These (2) positions are located in the DEA, Intelligence Division:
- Office of Special Intelligence, CNTOC, Europe, Asia, Africa Intelligence Support Unit (NSIC), Chantilly, VA.
- Office of Special Intelligence, Operations Analysis Unit 1 (NSOA), Merrifield, VA.
- Plan and direct the activities of staff in the collection, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence.
- Oversee and plan the operations of an intelligence program with worldwide implications, assessing unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and encountered difficulties.
- Initiate, plan, and evaluate broad and comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies.
- Prepare and present briefings to high-level federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives and to foreign dignitaries on difficult, complex, and controversial drug trafficking issues.
- Perform the administrative and human resource management functions related to the staff supervised.
- Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff members.
- May be required to testify during a career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance.
- Drug testing designated position.
- Polygraph required.
- Mobility Agreement required.
- Successful completion of a one‑year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed).
Applicants applying for the GS‑13 must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to work performed at the GS‑13 grade level. Specialized experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations.
GS‑14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑13 Federal grade level, performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi‑agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis, and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
