About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Purpose of Position:
This position provides emergency communications services and support to the Virginia Department of Military Affairs Emergency Services Section.
Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to: receive, process, and coordinate emergency response to a geographical area. provide positive customer service to staff, visitors and other personnel as needed.
This position is identified as a critical component in Emergency Services as the initial contact for requesting those services.
Telework for this position is only allowed during emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Skill in operating a telephone switchboard, PBX, or other similar multi-line communication systems;
Knowledge in communication equipment to include radios, repeaters, and radio frequencies;
Proficiency operating with Microsoft 365 Products and software to include SharePoint and Teams;
Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to meet requirements;
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage competing requirements in a high-stress environment;
Ability to obtain and maintain required Emergency Communications Officer Certifications;
Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and NIPR Account;
Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record required.
Additional Considerations
Considerable administrative support experience preferred.

A Real combination of acceptable documents is required for entry onto Fort Pickett and all other Federal Installations;
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/AED/Standard First Aid Training, ICS Class (100, 200, 700, 800) within 1 year of hire;
Completes Hazmat Awareness, Public Safety Telecommunicator I & II within 24 months of hire.
Adherence to all requirements of the Agency's Common Access Card (CAC) process inclusive of a favorable Federal Background Check is required.
Must have, and maintain, a valid Virginia Driver's License for the duration of employment;
Must obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC);
