The Town of Rocky Mount Police Department is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional to serve as Sergeant. We are looking for a leader who is committed to developing officers, building a strong team, engaging with our community, and advancing the mission and values of the Rocky Mount Police Department. The successful candidate will lead by example, maintain high professional standards, build trust, and create an environment where officers are supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow.

Applicants must be high school graduates, possess current Virginia DCJS law enforcement certification, and have a minimum of three years active law enforcement experience. Continued education and advanced law enforcement training are preferred, and supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience is a plus.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading, coaching, and developing patrol officers. Promoting accountability, professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and sound decision-making. Evaluating performance and providing meaningful feedback and guidance. Encouraging proactive, community-focused policing and strong relationships with residents, businesses, schools, and community partners. Identifying community concerns and working with officers and partners to develop effective solutions. Maintaining open communication with officers, fellow supervisors, the Chief of Police and command staff.

Coordinating special projects, investigations, and department initiatives. Providing effective leadership during critical incidents and daily patrol operations.

Starting annual salary of $60,184.17 - $75,161.84, depending on qualifications and experience.
