Position: Full Time Activities Assistant ($15-15.50/hr.)

Overview

Full Time Activities Assistant at Viva Senior Living  essential functions of the job for the Activity Assistant require, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living, to include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Designs a creative activity program based on company standards to meet the individual needs and interests of the residents. Plans seven-day-per-week activity calendars that promote resident participation in a structured environment; includes one-to-one programming for residents who cannot participate in a group setting.
  • Work closely with the Activity Director daily to better serve the residents, family, visitors, and staff in the community.
  • Monitors the day-to-day operation of the Memory Care Neighborhood (resident ADLs, meals, cleanliness, delivery of activities, charting and documentation).
  • Follow state-mandated Assisted Living Facility regulations.
  • Participate in the delivery of Viva Senior Living Memory Care Programming.
  • Assist and provide input in the completion and updating of UAIs, ISPs, and other assessments specific to the Memory Care Program.
  • Participate in Care Plan meetings and family meetings.
  • Communicate with families regarding resident involvement in the activity program.
  • Assist as needed in the training and teaching of staff for the Memory Care Neighborhood and Assisted Living activity programs.
  • Provide guidance and act as a resource to staff on the importance of activity programs and to support the quality of life for residents.
  • Participate in resident move-in processes in the Memory Care and Assisted Living areas.
  • Assist in touring and customer contact to maintain desired occupancy.
  • Coordinate special events at the community (e.g., family nights and open houses).
  • Manage volunteer program, including training and supervising volunteers.
  • Manage transportation for outings and medical appointments as needed.
  • Weekend coverage as assigned.
  • Be able to perform any job in the facility upon request by the Executive Director.
  • Arrive to work at the scheduled time and adhere to attendance policies.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Ensure residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that respects individual needs and rights.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals per facility policy.
  • Report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
  • Complete all assigned training and skills competency as a condition of employment.
  • Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings; fulfill responsibilities during emergencies and activations of the facility’s emergency plan.
  • Assist with evacuation of residents in an emergency situation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) in verbal, written, and electronic form.
  • Report non-compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel.
  • Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations.
  • Report allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator.
  • Report retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resource Director and the Compliance Officer.
  • Report suspicions of crime to law enforcement and the state agency as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Activities Assistant
  • Must possess at minimum a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to move around the facility and interact with residents in a caring, respectful manner.
Annual Health Requirements
  • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times agitated residents.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet, and move such weight up to 50 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
