The OB Health Unit Coordinator is a key administrative role within the obstetrics (OB) department, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit and supporting medical staff in delivering high-quality patient care. The coordinator is responsible for managing communication, maintaining patient records, and organizing essential unit activities. In addition, the OB Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for accurately collecting, verifying, and processing information related to births occurring within a healthcare facility.
This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations for vital records reporting and works closely with families, healthcare providers, and government agencies to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Notary Public within 4 months of hire
- Minimum of one year's previous experience in a clerical or receptionist position.
- Hospital and computer experience or satisfactory completion of training program preferred
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to comprehend medical terminology is preferred.
- Must be able to work independently, relate to various groups of professionals and interact with department visitors/staff.
- Must be able to operate word processing equipment, as well as perform data entry into Meditech.
- HIPAA - no breaches of confidentiality. no related complaints voiced on patient satisfactions surveys. No related complaints by fellow care providers of observed incidences.
