Job Overview
Full time. Sign on bonus eligible up to $20,000.
The Physical Therapist (PT) confirms and interprets physician referrals, performs patient assessments and plans, and implements individualized treatment programs that consider the patient’s developmental and/or chronological age and medical diagnoses in accordance with the regulations governing Physical Therapy.
Responsibilities- Provides patient care based upon physician referral and age‑appropriate assessment, planning and implementing treatment programs designed to achieve goals set with the patient and/or family.
- Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through written and/or verbal communication with patients, families, therapists, Clinical Team Leaders, managers, physicians and other healthcare team members.
- Documents in the patient’s medical record and completes other patient‑care related forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and departmental policies.
- Supervises PTAs and collaborates with other therapy staff, support staff, volunteers and students to achieve efficient clinical activity and quality patient care.
- Participates in patient‑care and departmental activities as requested, including in‑services, performance improvement, program development, new‑employee orientation, committee membership, peer review and staff meetings.
- Consistently delivers exemplary customer service and patient care, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in every encounter.
- Champions Carilion’s mission, vision, and values; complies with policies, procedures, ethical standards and the code of conduct set forth by the company.
- Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy; or bachelor’s degree with five years of experience, or a master’s or doctorate degree.
- Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy.
- American Heart Association BLS‑certified within six months of employment; BLS certification from a Carilion approved program required.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service and teamwork skills.
- Experience in site‑specific level of care preferred for inpatient and outpatient settings; one year of clinical experience required for Home Health positions.
