Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Infection Control Preventionist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting infection control practices across the clinic population, implementing surveillance programs, and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health requirements to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Skills & Abilities Essential
  • Promote infection control practices among patients, relatives, visitors, healthcare workers, contractors, and trainees.
  • Implement and oversee the Infection Control Program.
  • Conduct surveillance activities including:
    • Hand hygiene compliance rates
    • Multidrug-resistant organisms
    • Reportable communicable diseases
    • Staff exposure to blood, body fluids, and healthcare waste
  • Lead epidemiologic and outbreak investigations when required.
  • Review and update infection control policies and procedures regularly.
  • Provide orientation and training in infection control for new staff and contract renewals.
  • Ensure continuing education for existing staff when practices or safety management are updated.
  • Promptly report communicable diseases in line with policy and MOH requirements.
  • Oversee infection control aspects of renovation, demolition, and construction projects.
  • Provide guidance on cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of equipment.
  • Monitor compliance with waste management protocols.
  • Participate in committees and environmental rounds.
Desirable
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with healthcare-related software.
Qualification & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Medical, Nursing, or Microbiology from an accredited university/college.
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in infection control, with strong knowledge of infectious diseases, epidemiology, statistics, and clinical/environmental microbiology.
  • Preferably certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC).
  • Valid SCFHS license and Ministry of Health (MoH) license.
