CT Technologist
Job Summary
This role assesses patients and safely performs routine CT procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. The employee also acts as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent.
Work ExperienceRequired – Refer to Certification Section.
Preferred – Clinical CT experience.
Certifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography (R) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
- Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry required within two years of employment.
- Preferred – Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry.
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to the role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language.
- Ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
- Ability to work self‑directed and to function without direct supervision.
- Willingness and flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts.
- General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics of blood flow in relation to disease states.
- Skills to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on nationally published criteria.
- Skills to assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
- Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
- Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV).
- Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations such as inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, appropriate introduction, adapting explanations, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
The physical demands include regular lifting of 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. The role requires standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing arms and hands, manual dexterity, and traveling within facilities. Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue and potential hazardous medications or waste may occur. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
