Job Summary

Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) invites applications for an Hourly EMS Instructor. This role involves teaching EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic courses in line with National EMS Education Standards.

  : $20.63 – $35 per hour

• Deliver didactic and practical skill sessions for EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic courses.
• Conform instruction with National EMS Education Standards and conduct cognitive, psychomotor, and effective assessments.
• Manage classroom activities related to EMS education.
• Travel may be required to provide instruction at multiple campuses.
• Assist the agency or state government during emergencies as needed.

• Current EMS certification.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use instructional technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
  
  Must pass a criminal background screening.

• At least one year of Basic and Advanced Life Support level EMS teaching experience.
• AHA Instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS).
• At least two years of advanced life support level experience as a pre‑hospital EMS provider.
• Associate’s Degree with demonstrated competency in teaching.
• Current National Registry Paramedic Certification.
• Current Virginia Office of EMS Education Coordinator certification.

• Telework options are subject to change based on business needs.
• Position is not a sensitive position.
• No state vehicle operation required.
