Summary of Job:
To provide medical assistance to the physician/nurse practitioner in a professional manner and to provide for patients in a caring, efficient and compassionate manner. To handle patient phone calls and care of patients in the office. Perform EKG's and CLIA waived test as appropriate.
- High School diploma.
- Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Current BLS certifications through International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) courses such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross, including a manikin check off.
- Ability to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with little supervision.
- Displays tact and diplomacy in inter-personal skills.
- Keeps BLS Certification current at all times.
- Licensed Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited school and current Licensed Practical Nursing license. Maintains annual and continuing education credits; keeps license current at all times.
- Accredited Medical Assistant Program Certification or equivalent on-the-job training with 3 or more years. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred. Two to five years of experience in a physician office setting preferred.
- Physician’s office experience preferred.
- Experience with EPIC (EMR) and insurance processes required within a clinical setting.
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
