Our organization provides services designed to help members of our community achieve their individual goals. MPNN BH has over 60 distinct programs to aid and support all ages and many situations.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, oversees the daily operation of the Supportive Residential Program, Turning Point, which develops independent living skills. Work involves facilitating basic needs and monitoring mental status along with providing needed support. Delivers all services according to a recovery-based philosophy of care. Services are provided in the community as well as in the residential home. Will be required to transport persons served in an MPNN BH vehicle.

Employee is responsible for the direct care, supervision and support of residents based on individualized treatment plans. Work involves insuring the safety and security of residents. This position works closely with other staff at MPNN BH using a team approach. Work also involves assisting in routine clerical duties. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, residents, families, and services providers.

Critical component of job is to possess strong interpersonal skills. Ensures program services and comply with local, state, and federal guidelines. Reviews and approves documentation. Position is located in Lively, Virginia. Reports to the MH Residential Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises the community support specialists, assigns and reviews work; evaluates staff performance; schedules staff coverage. Provides adequate training for staff development; participates in staff development training; prepares and leads staff meetings. Documents all supervision and training activities according to all internal and external policies.
  • Coordinates and supervises the supportive residential living program and provides direct care for individuals in the development of independent living skills. Ensures program activities comply with local, state, and federal licensure and program requirements.
  • Maintains knowledge of each individual in the home to include diagnoses, health and safety needs, and how to respond to any changing needs presented.
  • Maintains knowledge of each resident’s Individualized Service Plan goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Provides daily mental health skill building services. Assists in the implementation and development of individual services plans; reviews and approves plans, ensures that planned activities contribute to meeting plan goals and objectives. Provides direction to staff in the development and coordination of resident’s activities.
  • Submits expenditure requests to the MH Residential Coordinator; prepares and submits monthly time sheets and billing information according to established schedules; ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations governing reimbursement/payment.
  • Follows MPNN BH policies and procedures during medical, behavioral, and fire emergencies and document accordingly. Utilizes appropriate interventions to assist individuals during emergencies to include providing First Aid and CPR interventions, de-escalation techniques/behavioral interventions, and following crisis action plans as needed.
  • Provides reports on facility and vehicle maintenance needs, condition, and repairs.
  • Communicates with management regarding significant events, needs, or changes in status of residents. Provides oncoming shift a report on overnight activities and coordination of care needs.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation related to service provision in accordance with all applicable regulations/requirements, policies and procedures set forth by DBHDS, CMS, MPNN BH and all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors environment and addresses any safety issues that may arise; performs routine infection control techniques.
  • Ensures compliance with Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) policies for MH Supervised Living service and the Office of Human Rights regulations for all individuals receiving services.
  • Ensures strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and communicates with each individual, family members, and internal/external providers in a respectful, professional manner.
  • Reports all incidents and events promptly in accordance with MPNN BH Incident Reporting policies and procedures.
  • Completes required annual training for MPNN BH staff, and participates in any additional professional development training, seminars, and conferences pertaining to the operation of MPNN BH clinical services.
  • Performs routine maintenance and checks on safety devices, and conducts fire or other drills.
  • Facilitates staff meetings as scheduled to provide needed training and supervision to assigned staff.
  • Maintains records of petty cash expenditures.
  • Other Duties, as assigned.
